Thank God a hectic day at the office is drawing to a close. Had to complete some outstanding artworks for an event next week and to send it out for print so the banner can be up tomorrow, all because of someone who can't decide on approving the artwork concept.
Thanks eh! My desk looked like it went through a blizzard with files, papers and a whole lot of office stationery being strewn around. It was so hectic that I had my lunch at 3:30pm! Thankfully, it's all sorted out now and I'm back to my leisurely pace at work.
The wifey is sick and went back after half a day. I guess she's recuperating now in the bed. Nice weather today to be sleeping, I must add. But I also must blame the erratic weather for this bout of sickness around me. Seems like everyone I know is falling ill. I think it's the
musim or the season to fall sick lah. I wasn't feeling very well myself this morning. My sinus was acting up again. I really want to go for the operation to sort it out. It's damn irritating when it makes my nose act like a leaky faucet.
It's the weekend! It's pay time!

It's past midweek and it's pay day week! Woot woot! Finally something to cheer about! I was at
Imran's birthday concert last night and somehow I ended being a part of the set. I was supposed to be running the visuals for the show and the cable connecting the projector was too short for me to do it from a hidden spot in the hall. So I ended up being placed in the middle of the setup along with the band. Luckily I was dressed for the occasion, what with the media and all. So do check out this Sunday's installment of
Suria Segar as they're featuring highlights from the concert. I might just be in it!
Today it's off to
dbl 0 after work 'cause we gonna have the boys from
BS, Akeem, Rauzan & Sleeq to do a lil' showcase for the Thursdays Playas night. Tomorrow, I'll be making my maiden trip down to
St James Powerhouse for a Hennessey Artistry event. Finally I get to see how St. James is! I haven't been there the entire time since it was opened. How sad is that. It's gonna be a busy week with a wedding to attend to on Tuesday and all..
Speaking of wedding, it's been about 2 months or so since I've got married and our
wedding site, sad to say, hasn't been updated at all since. I'm trying to rectify that and is currently uploading our wedding photos and maybe a video or two on the site. Keep an eye out for that.

On a sombre note, I would like to send my condolences to the family of
Eugene Chua (fourth from right,in black), manager of Que Pasa and a member of the Emerald Hill family. Eugene was
brutally assaulted by a gang of five outside a pub in Clarke Quay. The fact that the assailants were Malay didn't help at all. I hope justice will prevailed and those stupid assholes punished heavily for taking away the life of a young and harmless man. Eugene, I'll miss the laughter you'll let out everytime you stepped into the office. I may not know about you much but you have still touched me in a small way. You're off to a better place now. May God bless your soul.. Rest in peace, buddy..

Today was my first LAZY Saturday for a long long time. Did nothing but laid in bed & played PC games all day.

I want my own T-shirt line now,
dammit!
Look at the amount of posts I did today. I must be
reaaaaalllllllllly free..
-5:36 PM
The wifey's
blog is back! Weeewit!
-4:33 PM
I don't understand why people who are ignorant about design have to be the people I seek approval from. "Too cartoony", "Too serious", "Not exciting enough", "Not reflecting our outlet", "Too much like our competitor's artwork", the list of rejection reasons go on....
ARGH!Anyone know any places that offers lessons or courses on Adobe/Macromedia Flash? I think I need to upgrade myself and learning Flash could be a great start. I'm also seriously considering taking up a course on motion graphics now. Hmmm...
-11:15 AM
I have a new colleague today. Who turns out to be the ex girlfriend of a friend. It's a small world after all..
-10:25 AM
I have an issue I need to get off my chest. Why oh why do people insist on using irritating songs as their ringtones? It's already bad enough that I have to come across that stupid Avril Lavigne's song
"Girlfriend" the umpteeth time when I switched over to MTV, now I have to bear listening to it on the train too?! And no, here's a reality check. Having that song as your ringtone does
NOT make you cool! It just shows your lack of taste in music.
If that wasn't bad enough, another phone rang which I had the misfortune to be near at and what do you know... another irritating ringtone! That stupid shrieking Tokyo Drift song, this time! WTF! I think the government need to implement a ringtone regulation or something. Certain songs should be banned as ringtones. I'll sign that petition in a hurry...
On another note, I need to work on my links. To have just 3 links from my blog is pathetic and sad. So all you folks who wish to be in the
CRNLS Luchador Association, do let me know and I'll link ya from here!

-9:40 AM
Friday went good. Real good. I was sweating in the afternoon at workwhen I found out that I had to type out 6 sets of a 57 names list and only told me at about 4pm! I have a show to catch at 7pm, dammit! Thanks to my speed typing honed by late night chat sessions on MSN, I managed to get it all done at about 5pm. I was out of there at 6pm sharp! Took a short walk down to Winsland House to meet the wifey and the BS boys to catch
Freestyle: The Art Of Rhyme, a documentary about hip-hop freestyling. It's playing at the Goethe Institute as part of the running Singapore Film Fest

The documentary was inspiring as it was informative. The style of filming and presentation though reminds me so much of my favourite documentary, Scratch. Not surprisingly as both documentaries are released by Palm Pictures. The boys got all inspired and were trying to bust out freestyles after the show. They need more practice is my humble opinion. ;) Rushed back home to change after dinner at YouthPark because a more pressing issue awaits...
I got to see one my DJ heroes, Damian Higgins AKA Dieselboy! The event I was waiting almost half of my life for. You'll never know how much Dieselboy influenced me to pick up DJ-ing. After listening to a CD of his, Soldier's Story, I was immediately hooked to drum & bass and has never looked back since. So there I was, soaking in the experience of witnessing the man himself live and in the flesh. Shawn AKA DJ Livewire pulled me up to the DJ console and let me have a lil chat with Damian. It's kinda surreal to be able to talk to your hero and find him humble and very down-to-earth. There's no airs or superstar ego from him. I handed him a couple of vinyls for him to sign on and gave a copy of a poster I designed for him. He was very impressed with it and so was his MC, Messinian. In fact, Messinian wants me to work on something for him! Damn, this is too much to take. I'm running a sore throat now from all that screaming and singing along to the tunes. The dusty club didn't help either, making my sinus acted up on me. So enough talk, here's some (memorable) pics!!
Me+Dieselboy+Messinian+Aresha+The Loops (KL) crew
Me+MC J Messinian (The best D&B MC I've ever witnessed, fact!)
Me+My Hero, Damian Higgins AKA DJ Dieselboy (Look at how excited I was! Ignore the amount of dust on my hair+t-shirt please)
My prized catch from the night - My autographed vinyls!
Thank you to Aresha for making my dream a reality. Thank you to J Messinian for the constant compliments about my work, providing me an opportunity to work with you and being a beast at hyping up the crowd. Thank you to Damian Higgins for constantly being my inspiration and proving to me that I was right in worshipping you by being humble and down-to-earth and by being such a great DJ. Thanks to all of you for providing me one of the best night outs ever in my life. Long live Dieselboy! Search+Destroy!

I love being in the office today. I don't know why but it feels kinda good to be working today. It could be because of this new office chair I've been given yesterday to replace the old crummy chair I used to have. Oh and remember the poster I did yesterday? Well, I finished it and I just love when I get an artwork done..

This is for the Thursday "Playas" night on the 26th of April with the BS boys, Rauzan, Sleeq & Akeem. I think this is one of my favourite artworks so far. Pretty neat, don't you think?
And since we're on the subject of plugging, I shall plug this one again!!

It's my hero, the only & only
Dieselboy, mudderphuckers!!!! 2 more days! I better get my DIY Dieselboy tee done today!! Can't wait!!!!!!!

-11:43 AM
So it's a Tuesday and work week officially starts (well, for me, at least). And please don't start on Mondays. I managed to finish up whatI started yesterday. The new poster for our Thursday nights
"Playas" series. I don't know who's performing/spinning though as I have no news of the official lineup yet..

That's the new poster that I came up with. Though I have this feeling that it'll get rejected. "Not dbl 0-looking enough" they will say. What the heck is a dbl 0 look?! I'm as confused as you people are. But it's normal for works to get rejected. That luchador vector piece that heads my blog was a rejected piece. Thankfully I found new use for it. When oh when will I get my t-shirt business running? Only then I can do whatever I feel like designing without conforming to people's (sometimes nonsensical) expectations. Time to get more work done!
By the way, I've updated my Current Listens list in my profile. 3 new albums and they're all drum & bass. It could be a good year for drum & bass artist albums and I absolutely love that Kryptic Minds & Leon Switch album. Check out one of the highlights of the album, "A Road Less Travelled". Drum & Bass at its most beautiful...

It's been a good long weekend this week. After past weekends that didn't feel like weekends because they were either too short or when I didn't get to do anything, this weekend has been kinda productive. We finally finish fixing up all our shelves in the room. There's still the TV bracket and table to fix up though. Yes, I know it's been 2 months or so but we're just too tired to do anything right after work. So it feels kinda good to manage to get them shelves out of the way
Did a lil shopping too on Friday. OK OK.. not a lil. I did SOME shopping k? I got myself 5 tops from TopMan. A short step towards that wardrobe overhaul I was talking about. I need more shirts now that I'm a corporate whore. So less t-shirts and more formal tops...

We sneaked out in the middle of the night to accompany the wifey's friend, Noi because she had the sudden feeling of being out. We ended up watching Meet The Robinsons because I had this excuse that we shouldn't watch anything too taxing on the brain for an early morning movie so we had to skip shows like The Breach and The Number 23. And like all good animated movies, this one comes with a moral. I kinda shed a tear at the end of it. I'm an closet emo kid, I'm telling you, except I don't slash my wrists when I want attention.
And check out this blasphemy! 50 cent covering the late great Bob Marley?!?
Check out the video yourselves!
Oh and happy Easter to all!

Yeap, that's the missus with the fresh hair! She had hers highlighted and permed and although she's kinda sceptical about the new hair, I think she looks great with it!
Does anyone know where I can get a nice manly tote bag in black? I need a wardrobe overhaul!
-11:42 AM

Was testing the functions of my K800i at uploading pictures straight from my phone to my blog. It works! I'm so in love with the phone. This has been the best phone I've used in my life so far,
not that I've used a lot of phones before. The only way they can improve this K800i is by making the phone slimmer. It's still a tad too thick for a new age phone.
Oh yeah, as you can see I've done my hair! Thanks to Abg Awie from Designer Guy Hair Salon for it. The wifey did something drastic to hers too. Will post a picture once I can get one of her! Oh and please ignore the irritating red dot on my nose. Anyone knows any good foundation for men??
Ikea is showing the movie "Music & Lyrics" at the Botanical Gardens tomorrow at 8pm. Best of all, it's free!! Yeap, it will cost you nadda.. Care to join?
-10:23 AM

I just can't wait! My hero is gonna be here!!
-8:40 AM
What a fantastic scoreline! Who would have thought that we'll score 3 away at Eindhoven. Although I did have this very strong feeling just before kick-off that we'd score 3 but I dismissed the thought as wishful thinking. Risse's goal was a stunner! Now to finish them off at Anfield in a week's time..

Finally I've joined the Blogger bandwagon! After years on pitas, I figure I should join the masses and move to Blogger instead. It looks pretty straightforward, unlike pitas which is too HTML-heavy. My blog's looking good. Need a few more touches before I'll finally feel at home here. Till then!
